MANDI: A verbal duel has again started between Himachal Pradesh PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh and BJP leader Aashray Sharma, the son of BJP MLA from Mandi Anil Sharma, who had previously contested the elections on the Congress ticket from the Mandi Lok Sabha constituency.
Ahead of Vikramaditya Singh’s visit to Mandi, Aashray took a jibe on his Facebook page, sarcastically asserting that the PWD Minister, whose mother and Congress state president Pratibha Singh was the MP from Mandi, was inaugurating pre-existing roads. Aashray claimed that these roads had been previously dedicated to the public through the efforts of the incumbent MLA and his father.
When Vikramaditya visited Mandi, he responded humorously, stating that only Aashray’s father Anil Sharma could provide an appropriate response to the comments. In his media response, Vikramaditya mentioned that the state government was currently undertaking a road upgrade project covering 40,000 to 42,000 square km, with an expenditure of Rs 2,600 crore.
“The focus is on building public confidence in the government’s initiatives rather than engaging in discussions about them. The road upgrade initiative in the state reflects the vision of the current government,” the minister said.
It is noteworthy that a longstanding political feud persists between the families of Vikramaditya’s father late Virbhadra Singh and Aashray’s grandfather and former Union minister Sukh Ram, the two stalwarts of the Himachal political arena. Although both leaders have passed away, similar controversies endure in the subsequent generation of their families.
