Dharamshala: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has once again cornered the Congress-led government, this time over the closure of stone crushers in Kangra district since the onset of monsoons. Vipin Singh Parmar, the BJP’s Kangra-Chamba in-charge and legislator from Sulah accused the Congress government of shutting down all crushers in Kangra during rainfall while allowing operations in various other regions of the state. Kangra district, according to Parmar, has become the victim of political swords, whether it be hanging budget allocations or representation.
Parmar leveled accusations that the inspection committee formed by the state government only inspected a few crushers but compiled a report encompassing all. He questioned the rationale behind reopening some crushers and closing others, leaving people to grapple with soaring prices of sand, gravel, and crushed material for almost two months. He raised concerns about the lack of a relief package from the central government post the natural disaster in the state.
In response to queries about the absence of relief from the central government, Parmar challenged the Sukhhu-led state government to file an affidavit in court if they believed they received no aid from the Indian government. The political tussle continues as the BJP intensifies its criticism, alleging discrepancies in the handling of the stone crusher closures and the relief efforts in drought-affected regions.
