Dharamshala: The actions of six former Congress legislators in Himachal in the recent Rajya Sabha elections was criticised by Kangra Youth Congress president Pankaj Kumar Panku.
He called their conduct disgraceful for all of Himachal Pradesh.
He urged the BJP to refrain from engaging in petty politics and emphasized solidarity with the state’s youthful Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhhu. Panku made these remarks during a press conference in Dharamshala on Tuesday.

He noted that while questions were raised about the BJP’s adherence to government guarantees, CM Sukhhu has fulfilled five guarantees and is on track to complete the remaining ones in a phased manner. Panku highlighted the initiation of the Indira Gandhi Priyadarshini Sukh Samman Nidhi Scheme, providing Rs 1500 to women aged 18 to 60, as evidence of the government’s commitment to welfare initiatives.

Asserting the readiness of the state’s populace to deliver a resounding response to the BJP’s actions in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Panku expressed his long-standing commitment to advocating for neglected issues in Dharamshala and vowed to continue doing so in the future.

Panku, who contested the 2017 elections as an independent candidate from Dharamshala, also discussed major issues such as the construction of the Central University building, establishment of a circuit bench of the High Court, and employment opportunities for the unemployed, stating that discussions had taken place with CM Sukhhu on these matters, and the government is taking them seriously, with decisions expected soon.

Highlighting CM Sukhhu’s origins in grassroots organizing and his understanding of every stratum of society, Panku emphasized that the guarantees made during the elections are being fulfilled accordingly. Present at the event were Anuj Kumar, newly appointed Youth Congress president of Dharamshala, advocate Vikas Sharma, district Youth Congress coordinator Jeet Kumar, NSUI in-charge Shobhit Rana, Gokul Kapoor, and Parvindra.
