Rebel Chetan Baragta, who was once considered a potential BJP candidate in Jubbal Kotkhai, has once again got back into the electoral fray two days after he was sidelined by the Bharatiya Janata Party as candidate in the constituency. Accompanied by hundreds of supporters, Baragta filed his nomination papers as an independent candidate, as angry supporters raised slogans against Urban Development Minister Suresh Bhardwaj, who is the BJP in charge of the constituency.
An emotional Chetan Baragta, who was once the face of the BJP in Jubbal Kotkhai, said that the party had not even allowed him to mourn the death of his father and had summoned him for campaigning just 15 days after his death. He added that despite having given 15 precious years of his life to the BJP, he had not been nominated. There was hence no justification in quoting nepotism as the reason for this unfair decision.Over and above all this, the party high command had decided to nominate a person who was always involved in anti-party activities. He had therefore decided to file his papers as an independent candidate on the insistence of hundreds of supporters, he stated.
