Court finds him guilty in an eight-year-old case

BJP leader from Solan town was sentenced to 18 months of prison on being found guilty by court in an eight-year-old case.
The court order was passed by Kandaghat judicial magistrate class one Dr Pushplata on Tuesday.
Bharati is BJP’s state executive member and in the race for the party ticket to contest from the Solan Assembly constituency.
According to prosecution on October 15, 2014, a funeral procession was on its way to the funeral ground at Halru nullah near Vakanghat. On its when they reached the stone crusher unit of Tarsem Bharati. On account of the shower of stones during the crushing operation they urged the machine operator Hemraj to temporarily halt the operation. However, Hemraj did not pay any heed even as big chunks of stone fell on the people in the funeral procession. People ran helter-skelter and in the ensuring stampede two persons were killed and two others were injured.
Following complaints the police registered cases against Tarsem Bharati and Hemraj under various sections of IPC.
After a protracted legal battle the court pronounced Bharati guilty and passed the order sentencing him to 18 months of prison.
