Dehra: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has deployed its top leaders to ensure the victory of their candidate, Hoshiar Singh, who is contesting against Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu’s wife, Kamlesh Kumari, from Congress. From BJP’s state president Rajeev Bindal to former ministers Bikram Thakur and Vipin Parmar, all key leaders are actively involved in the campaign.
When asked by TNR about special initiatives to contest against the Chief Minister’s wife, party president Rajeev Bindal said, “We have divided Dehra into six sectors, and there are also gram centers at village levels. We are trying to establish our presence down to the booth level.”
Former ministers Bikram Thakur and Vipin Parmar are serving as in-charges (Prabharis) for this constituency. Many other party leaders are also working in this constituency, conducting public meetings during the day and party strategy meetings at night.
BJP leaders are trying to convince voters that this election is a battle against the misuse of power and money. Due to the candidature of the Chief Minister’s wife from Dehra, the area is buzzing with political activity from both parties. Although this seat has historically been weak for Congress, it remains to be seen what impact fielding the Chief Minister’s wife will have.
