Shimla: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched an aggressive attack against the Congress government in the wake of the threat incident involving the Vice-Chancellor of Arni University.
The party claims that law and order in the state have reached a critical point, with a surge in criminal incidents. The BJP alleges that government officials are now resorting to intimidation against institutional heads.
BJP spokesperson Karn Nanda stated that every institution has its norms, but it is unfortunate that an official is speaking discourteously to the head of an institution under political pressure.
He remarked that the government should learn from Madhya Pradesh, where a deputy commissioner was suspended for a statement challenging the government’s authority.
If BJP were in power in Himachal, the officer would have been suspended by now.
Nanda insisted on a thorough investigation into the case, advocating the formation of an SIT (Special Investigation Team) led by an IG-level officer and a fact-finding committee. He emphasized that the report should be made public. If the MLA and SDM are found guilty, FIRs should be filed against them to prevent such incidents in the future.
