The Bharat Bandh called by Samyukt Kisan Manch (SKM) was largely successful in many cities and towns of Himachal.
Traders in Rohru, Kotkhai, Jubbal, Theog, Narkanda and Gumma kept shops closed for two to three hours in support of the farmers movement.
Roads blocked Various organisations associated with the Samyukt Kisan Manch created blockades in these cities, creating traffic jams.
Transport services on more than 560 routes were severely affected on Monday due to the bandh.
Buses from the state did not ply to Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Baddi. CITU and Congress workers also held rallies at some places in other districts.
Samyukt Kisan Manch co-convenor, Sanjay Chauhan has accused the government of ignoring them and has warned of intensifying the agitation if their demands were not met.
He said the government’s attitude would force farmers in the state to agitate on the lines of the Delhi protest. He added that the farmers were prepared for such a protest.
