SHIMLA: A Himachal Pradesh government team led by Industries Minister Harshvardhan Singh Chauhan will be visiting Visakhapatnam from July 6 to 8 to acquire expertise in establishing and operating Bulk Drug Park and Medical Device Park.
The Secretary of the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Government of India, had previously suggested this visit to the state government as part of the preparations for the setting up of the Bulk Drug Park.
Accompanying Harshvardhan on the trip is Congress MLA Chander Shekhar from Dharampur in Mandi. The team also includes key officials such as Industries Department Secretary RD Nazim, Industries Director Rakesh Prajapati, along with other officers from the Industries Department and the State Industrial Development Corporation. Hamirpur Chief Engineer and Una Superintending Engineer from the Jal Shakti Department are part of the delegation to arrange water facilities for the Bulk Drug Park.
The team’s primary objective is to study the Jawaharlal Nehru Pharma Park at Visakhapatnam, which was established in 2003 and is the first of its kind in India. They will also visit the Andhra Meditech Zone, another unique park in the country. This visit will provide insights into the promotion, development, and technical operations of these parks, offering valuable lessons for Himachal’s upcoming Bulk Drug Park in Haroli Assembly constituency of Una and the Medical Device Park in Nalagarh, the first of its kind in North India.
While the infrastructure development work has just begun in the Bulk Drug Park, plot allotment in the Medical Device Park will commence after the monsoon season. Chauhan emphasised that the government was closely monitoring the progress of these vital parks from Delhi.
