Chamba: In a distressing case of animal cruelty, the Chamba police station has registered a case against three individuals. The incident unfolded on Wednesday night when vigilant members of the Bajrang Dal intercepted a vehicle transporting six cows under the cover of darkness in the Saho area of Chamba.
Upon discovering the distressed animals, the Bajrang Dal activists promptly alerted the police. Law enforcement officers swiftly arrived at the scene, where they found the cows in a dire state. The ear tags identifying the cows had been forcibly removed, and they were tightly packed within the vehicle.
A case has been registered under Section 11 of the Animal Cruelty Act against three individuals: Ravi, the driver of the vehicle; Hitesh, a resident of Dravala (Panela) who facilitated the sale; and Hanif, the purchaser. The police promptly liberated the six captive cows, taking them into custody and relocating them to the Gau Sadan for their safety.
Confirming the incident, SP Chamba Abhishek Yadav emphasized the swift response of the police in cases of this nature. He stated that immediate action is taken whenever such instances of cruelty come to light, underscoring the commitment of law enforcement to protect animals from harm.
