Hamirpur : During the convocation ceremony at NIT Hamirpur, Union Minister Anurag Thakur addressed the students, warning against drug abuse and emphasizing the responsibility to keep the state drug-free. Thakur also expressed his commitment to improving the facilities at the institute and maintaining its dignity. He pledged to take action against anyone involved in the drug trade, regardless of their influence. Thakur urged parents to take responsibility in this effort and emphasized the importance of the youth’s role in building a better future.
Thakur didn’t mince words, stating that he would not tolerate any negligence in safeguarding the institute’s dignity. He raised concerns about the lack of checks on hostels and warden sleeping at night. He stressed that this was unacceptable and that he was dedicated to preserving the state’s well-being. Thakur advised the students to make the right choices and not be swayed by the wrong path. He emphasized that it was their decision to build a bright future or be left behind. Thakur also called on students to contribute to the country’s progress, citing the sacrifices made by soldiers for the nation’s freedom.
The stern message comes in the wake of a recent incident where an NIT student passed away under suspicious circumstances, leading to drug-related arrests of three students and two peddlers.
