Revered deity Kamrunag embarks on journey for festivities commencing on Mar 7

Mandi: As Mahashivratri approaches, anticipation mounts in the historic town of Mandi. On February 29 the revered deity of Mandi, Kamrunag, embarked on his journey from his original abode to Mandi to partake in the week-long Mahashivratri festivities, set to commence traditionally on March 7.
Upon arrival in Mandi, the Mahashivratri celebrations will commence, ushering in a vibrant atmosphere in the town. To elevate the splendor of the festival, Kamrunag, worshipped in the Mandi district, is accompanied by a dedicated staff.
The staff of Kamrunag Dev was stationed near the Saryach village in Junani Ghati and will embark on a seven-day trek, culminating in Kamrunag Dev’s arrival in Mandi on March 7. Upon his arrival, the district administration will extend a warm welcome to the revered deity Kamrunag through auspicious gates. Subsequently, Kamrunag Dev will attend the Raj Madhav Rai Temple and receive traditional rituals in the royal court. Following this, he will proceed to the Tarna Mata Temple, where devotees will gather for his darshan and blessings throughout the festival.
Kamrunag Dev refrains from participating in processions or appearing in the pedal field during the Mahashivratri festival. Shivpal Sharma, district president of the All Deities Committee, stated that Kamrunag Dev departed from Kamru Ghati at 8:30 am on Thursday, accompanied by devotees who will host him at various locations along the journey.
The Mahashivratri festival in Mandi district commences only upon the arrival of the revered deity Kamrunag. However, preparations for Mahashivratri are already in full swing, signifying the beginning of the festival with Kamrunag Dev’s arrival in Chhoti Kashi Mandi. This annual event draws devotees from far and wide, marking the six-day International Mahashivratri Festival from March 9. Alongside the 216 registered deities of the Deities Committee, unregistered deities from the district also partake in the festivities.
