A cloudburst in the Rampur subdivision of Shimla district in Himachal Pradesh led to the washing away of a 30-meter stretch of the Nogli-Taklech road on Friday night around 8 pm.
The incident was caused by a sudden surge in water levels in Damrali nullah, which runs through the area. The administration responded promptly by issuing an alert near Nogli drain, leading to the evacuation of several shops and houses in Nogli market. Residents living along the banks of the nullah have been relocated to safer locations.

The aftermath of the cloudburst has left six panchayats without electricity and mobile signals in the area have been disrupted due to damage to a nearby communication tower. The situation has caused considerable anxiety among locals, who are now grappling with the lack of essential services.
Emergency teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) quickly arrived on the scene. Shimla Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap, along with Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi, also reached Nogli late at night to assess the damage.
Kashyap said no casualties or significant property damage had been noticed so far. He said the district administration was fully prepared to handle any further developments as heavy rains continue to lash the region.
In Taklech, the cloudburst caused the upper part of the area to flood, with residents distinctly hearing the roar of the drain as water levels rose rapidly. The local populace, gripped by fear, rushed out of their homes in the dark of night.
SDM Nishant Tomar said that while access to the affected area has been challenging due to the road collapse, communication with the local panchayat pradhan confirmed that there were no immediate reports of casualties or property loss. A major cloudburst in Rampur’s Samej recently had left several persons dead or missing.
