In June this year, the state received 20 per cent more rainfall than normal. From June 1 to 30, 121 mm of rain was recorded in the state. In June 2017, 122 mm of rain was recorded. After the onset of monsoon in the state this year, maximum rainfall was recorded in Solan district and minimum in Lahaul-Spiti from June 24 to 30.

According to the data of the Meteorological Centre Shimla, in June 2013 there was 143 percent more cloud cover than normal. This is the highest record for rainfall in June so far. The month of June 2012 holds the record for the least rainfall. During this period, there was 71 per cent less rainfall than normal. Lahaul-Spiti and Una districts have received less than normal rainfall since the onset of monsoon in the state this year.

Lahaul-Spiti received 81 per cent less rainfall than normal and Una received 72 per cent less rainfall. Bilaspur received 61 per cent excess rainfall, Chamba 94, Hamirpur 17, Kangra 45, Kinnaur 16, Kullu 120, Mandi 196, Shimla 162, Sirmaur 109 and Solan 215 per cent. On June 24, the highest rainfall in the state was recorded at Kataula in Mandi at 163 mm. Hailstorms also occurred in many areas of Shimla and Kullu.
