The Newz Radar

The weather in the Queen of Hills Shimla, the capital city of Himachal Pradesh, has been breaking all previous records, the development coming at a time when the political temperature has been high too due to the change in government and a new faction in the Congress taking over from the traditional Virbhadra Singh group.
On Monday (December 12, 2022), the maximum temperature was recorded at 20 degrees Celsius, which was 6.6 degrees Celsius above normal and the highest after 2006 when the temperature had touched 20.5 degrees in December.
According to the Meteorological Department, the highest temperature recorded in Shimla on Monday had broken the past 16-year record. The temperature has been increasing in other cities of Himachal as well.
Keylong’s temperature remained around the freezing point in the second week of December, but the maximum temperature here stood at 11 degrees Celsius, which was 8 degrees above normal. Una recorded the highest temperature of 28.6 degrees Celsius.
Generally, there is severe cold in the mountains in December, but this time it is comparatively warmer. This has also led to a jump in the minimum temperature.
According to the Meteorological Centre, Shimla, the weather would remain clear in the entire state for the next at least five days, which can cause a further surge in the heat. The Meteorological Department has warned of dense fog in the plains, particularly in the morning hours.
It is a matter of concern for farmers and horticulturists that the state has not received rainfall since the monsoon season. As a result, farmers have not been able to sow wheat on time. There is no good news for the apple growers of the state as well as the time for mandatory annual freezing temperature for trees has been fast passing by.
