MANDI: The Newz Radar, the only English digital news network based out of Himachal Pradesh, is all set to host the fourth episode of its second edition of the Shining Star Awards-2024 in historic Mandi town on Tuesday (June 11, 2024).
The venue for the event is Sardar Patel University where long queues of students were witnessed since early morning. Nearly 250 meritorious Class X and Class XII students who scored 85 per cent or above marks in their 2024 board examinations will be felicitated.
The event comes two days after a similar event was organised in Kullu where nearly 200 students were honoured. Kargil war hero Brig Khushal Thakur (retd) was the Chief Guest while Chaman Kapoor, the state coordinator of the BJP’s municipal wing, was the Guest of Honour.
The aim behind organising such events is to connect with bright young minds and foster a constructive society, said Sunil Chadha, Executive Editor, The Newz Radar. Sunil Chadha said the purpose behind organising the event is to felicitate both students and their parents who have worked hard to achieve academic milestones.
The Kullu event was the third in row and the second was organised in Chamba. The opening part of this year’s edition of the Shining Star Awards was held in Dharamshala. The event received stupendous response with a gathering of around 1,000 people turning up, which included meritorious students, their teachers and parents. Retired IAS officer and UPSC adviser JM Pathania, who was the chief guest, addressed the gathering and, as a social welfare initiative, shared his personal contact number with the students to assist them in their careers. The second episode of the Shining Star Awards was held in Dharamshala.
The initiative of TNR Shining Star Awards was started in 2023 and it attracted personalities from various fields. Distinguished guests, including Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri and top government officials, graced various functions in 2023 and shared their views with students.
