Almost 10 lakh stillbirths a year can be attributed to air pollution, according to a global study published in the journal Nature Communications. It covered 137 countries including India, Pakistan, Nigeria, China and Bangladesh. Almost half of the stillbirths could be linked to exposure to pollution particles smaller than 2.5 microns (PM2.5), mostly produced from the burning of fossil fuels.
