SHIMLA: Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, all political parties seem to be looking to cash in on the Ayodhya Ram Temple sentiment.

Two days after BJP leader and Union Minister Anurag Thakur flagged off a train carrying devotees from his constituency Hamirpur to Ayodhya, the Congress-led Himachal Pradesh government has announced the commencement of Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) bus services from the state to Ayodhya Dham during the state Assembly’s upcoming budget session.

The service aims to facilitate pilgrims seeking darshan of Lord Ram in Ayodhya, marking a new chapter in interstate connectivity and religious tourism.

HRTC management has completed all necessary formalities to initiate the bus service, which will operate from multiple locations across Himachal Pradesh to Ayodhya. The routes include Shimla, Una, Nalagarh, Manali, Hamirpur and Dharamshala. With route permits secured and necessary approvals obtained from the Uttar Pradesh Transport Department, the buses are poised to embark on their inaugural journeys.

The buses departing from Nalagarh to Ayodhya will traverse via Bareilly, while other routes will pass through Delhi. The journey from Nalagarh to Ayodhya is estimated to take 19 hours, departing at 4 pm and reaching Ayodhya at 11 am the following day. Similarly, buses departing from Shimla will commence their journey at 7.30 pm, reaching Ayodhya after 25 hours at 8 pm the subsequent day. Plans are also underway to introduce Volvo services from Shimla to Ayodhya, with details pending confirmation.

Buses traveling via Delhi will navigate through the Yamuna and Agra Lucknow Expressway, covering the 732-km distance in approximately 13 hours. The service is scheduled to operate daily, providing pilgrims and travellers with enhanced accessibility to Ayodhya.
