AAP founder and Kejriwal ex-aide Yogendra Yadav predicts another victory for BJP

But psephologist shows some gains in Lok Sabha elections for Congress too

Psephologist-turned-politician Yogendra Yadav, who was the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) founder but has now severed ties with the Arvind Kejriwal dispensation, has predicted another victory for the BJP in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, dashing the hopes of the Congress for a significant electoral revival. However, Yadav forecasts a silver lining for the Congress, suggesting its seat tally could reach 100.
Yadav’s prediction comes after Prashant Kishor, a prominent political strategist facing criticism on social media for his own favourable forecast for the BJP, made a similar poll assessment. According to Yadav, the BJP is expected to secure between 240 and 260 seats, with its allies contributing an additional 34-45 seats. This would place the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) at a total of 275-305 seats, comfortably above the 272-seat majority threshold needed to form a government.
“A trusted face among those who understand elections and socio-political issues in the country, Yogendra Yadav, has shared his ‘final assessment’ of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. According to Yogendra ji, BJP may get 240-260 seats and NDA’s allies may get 35-45 seats in these elections. Meaning 275-305 seats for BJP/NDA. To form the government in the country, 272 seats are required and BJP/NDA has 303/323 seats in the outgoing Lok Sabha. (Shiv Sena won 18 seats as part of NDA but is no longer with them). Now assess yourself whose government is being formed. On June 4, we will know who is talking about whom,” Kishor wrote on X.
The predictions come amid intense campaigning and strategic maneuvers by all major political parties. The BJP, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is aiming for a third consecutive term, while the Congress, under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi, is striving to regain its political foothold. Yadav’s and Kishor’s projections add to the ongoing debate about the likely outcome of the elections.
Yadav, who has a background in political analysis and has transitioned into a political role, is known for his insights into electoral trends and voter behaviour. His forecast aligns with other predictions, including those by US poll expert Ian Bremmer, suggesting a strong performance by the BJP.
