Mandi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday remotely initiated funding of Rs 20 crore for Sardar Patel University, Mandi, directly from Jammu and Kashmir. The funding, facilitated online, marks a pivotal contribution to the university’s advancement under the PM higher education campaign.

During the virtual proceedings attended by Prime Minister Modi in Jammu and Kashmir, Prof Anupama Singh, Pro Vice Chancellor of Sardar Patel University, along with faculty members and students, also participated.

Expressing her gratitude, Prof Singh extended her appreciation to Prime Minister Modi, BJP national president Jagat Prakash Nadda, and the Ministry of Education, while commending the university’s administration for their stewardship.

The allocation from the Central government is earmarked for bolstering the university’s internal infrastructure. Specifically, the funds will be directed towards the establishment of state-of-the-art smart classrooms and enhanced laboratory facilities, aimed at enriching the academic experience for students.

Sardar Patel University, inaugurated on April 1, 2022, has made strides under the leadership of Prof Anupama Singh. Within two months, the university attained the prestigious 2F status from the University Grants Commission, a testament to Professor Singh’s dedication and vision. This elevated status has paved the way for today’s significant financial grant from the Central government.

Prof Singh underscored the magnitude of this grant, emphasizing that while the university’s annual budget stands at Rs 10 crore, the infusion of Rs 20 crore signifies a substantial boon for the institution.

She expressed optimism for continued support from the Central government, envisioning a future of enhanced financial assistance for the university’s continued growth and excellence.
