MANDI: Pranav Mahendru, a wildlife photographer hailing from Mandi, was honoured with the ‘National Youth Award for Best Young Wildlife Photographer’ on January 23 at an event held in Bengaluru by the “Nature in Focus” organisation. The award was bestowed upon him by Bollywood actress Dia Mirza.
Prior to this recognition, Pranav had also earned the Best Wildlife Photographer award at a separate event in Jaipur during the Tiger Festival, where Governor Kalraj Mishra honoured him.
A student of Class 10+1, Pranav has brought laurels for Mandi town through the awards at the national level. Pranav’s passion for photography, nurtured since childhood, found unwavering support from his father, Vinit Mahendru, who provided him quality cameras. Through his early endeavours in wildlife photography, Pranav has brought honour to Mandi. His grandfather Ajit Kapoor highlighted Pranav’s dedication to natural photography, submitting his works to wildlife platforms.
Globally, Pranav’s rare photographs have seen extensive sales and he has produced a documentary showcasing his diverse and rare captures. The national awards stand as a testament to his dedication and hard work at such a young age, as remarked by his grandfather.
