The Himachal Pradesh Police have issued a statement clarifying that recent incidents at Khajjiar in Dalhousie area of Chamba district have been misrepresented on social media, particularly the one related to an assault on an NRI couple and alleged links to an incident involving Mandi Lok Sabha BJP MP Kangana Ranaut who was “slapped” by a Punjab-origin CISF woman constable at the Chandigarh airport recently.

The Director General of Police, Himachal Pradesh, emphasised that these incidents were unrelated and had been distorted in various news outlets and social media platforms. Wrong parking was trigger

Paramjeet had parked his vehicle in a manner that obstructed traffic, prompting the local police to intervene and request him to move the vehicle. The situation escalated when Paramjeet allegedly became verbally abusive and argumentative towards the police personnel from Khajjiar police station, the police said.

The statement clarified that upon investigation by the in charge of the Chamba Sadar police station, the allegations made against the local police were found to be baseless and false. The Himachal Pradesh Police reiterated that they upheld high standards of behaviour and professionalism and always prioritised the safety and welfare of all visitors to the state.
