A heartrending incident occurred on Saturday morning at Bhaleti, located under the jurisdiction of the Bangana police station in Una district of Himachal Pradesh, as a nine-year-old girl student died after falling off a school bus and getting crushed under its tyre.
The victim, Arshita, daughter of Vivek Sharma and a resident of Bangana, succumbed to her injuries at the scene of the accident.
Reports suggest that Arshita was en route from Bangana to Shivalik Public School at Tanoh aboard the school bus, as per her routine on Saturday morning. However, tragedy struck when the bus reached Bhaleti where a child opened the front door of the bus. In the ensuing chaos, Arshita fell off the bus and was crushed under its tyre. It has been revealed that there was no conductor present aboard the bus at the time of the incident.
Upon receiving the news, authorities from the Bangana police arrived at the scene, taking custody of Arshita’s body for further investigation. The Una Superintendent of Police (SP), Rakesh Singh, confirmed the police’s intervention, asserting that the necessary procedures were being carried out in light of the mishap.
The residents have raised questions regarding the safety protocols and supervision aboard school buses, underscoring the urgent need for stringent measures to prevent such accidents in the future.
