7-day NSS camp concludes at Palampur government school with vibrant cultural programme

Palampur: The seven-day National Service Scheme (NSS) camp at Amar Shaheed Major Sudhir Kumar Walia Government Excellent Secondary School came to an end yesterday with a ceremony attended by several dignitaries and guests. The event marked the culmination of a week of social service and educational activities carried out by NSS volunteers.
Ramesh Dadwal, president of the Ex-Servicemen League, Palampur, graced the occasion as the chief guest and was honoured with a memento, cap and shawl. Parvinder Bhatia, president of Shani Seva Sadan, Palampur, was also recognised for his contributions with a cap and memento, presented by school’s Principal Ravindra Kumar Verma, NSS in-charge Balwant Singh and women’s in-charge Rita Nanda.
The event commenced with a Saraswati Vandana, followed by a presentation by NSS in-charge Balwant Singh, who outlined the various activities conducted during the seven-day camp. Chief guest Dadwal lauded the efforts of the volunteers and awarded prizes to students and volunteers for their exemplary participation. He also contributed Rs 5,100 to support the school’s cultural activities.
The occasion was filled with vibrant cultural performances, including patriotic Himachali Naati, Punjabi Giddha and a captivating “Lungi Dance” performed by Class VI students, which became the centre of attention. The performances showcased the rich cultural heritage of the region and received applause from the audience.
Parvinder Bhatia entertained the crowd with a flute performance, while CK Sood from Axis Bank, Palampur, provided refreshments to the NSS volunteers. Other prominent attendees included Jaswant Rana, CK Sood, Lieutenant Arindam Sood, Simro Devi, Anjana Devi, President of the School Management Committee Rosie Walia, Ashtami Devi, Champa Devi, Meenakshi, Radha and Madhubala.
The Principal expressed his gratitude to the guests, teachers and BEd trainee teachers for their support in successfully concluding the NSS camp. He also extended his best wishes to the NSS volunteers for their future endeavors. NSS District Coordinator Rajneesh Awasthi was also in attendance, adding to the significance of the event.
