Govt presses ahead with stringent steps to mitigate 3rd wave among children

At least 52 children in Himachal Pradesh have tested positive for the deadly Corona virus after the re-opening of educational institutions on August 2.
Positive cases reported in 9 districts
Giving details of the number of students infected by Covid-19, a government spokesperson said 2 students in Bilaspur, 9 in Chamba, 5 in Hamirpur, 15 in Kangra, 1 in Kullu, 1 in Lahaul and Spiti, 7 in Mandi, 9 in Shimla and 3 in Una districts have tested positive for the virus.
13 of these students were from the ITI. However, Sirmaur, Solan and Kinnaur districts have not reported any cases among students so far.
School admins asked to remain vigilant
The government spokesperson urged all schools and educational institution authorities to strictly abide by Covid-19 related guidelines and standard operating procedures to stop the spread of the virus amongst children.
Teachers and parents, he said, should encourage students to follow Covid appropriate behaviour. He also said that the practice of sharing tiffins should be discouraged.
