SHIMLA: In a dramatic turn of events at the Centre of Excellence College in Sanjauli, Shimla, five student leaders have been expelled indefinitely following a campus ruckus on Friday.
The college administration has barred these students from entering the campus, citing their role in disrupting the educational atmosphere. This action has ignited fresh protests, with the student outfit SFI accusing the college of attempting to cover up a molestation case involving a female student.
The expelled students, all prominent members of the SFI, include Anshul Minhas, Pravesh, Binus Ritansh, Suhani and Aryan Thakur. College principal Bharti Bhangra stated that the decision was made on the recommendation of the Staff Council and the Women’s Cell, emphasising that these leaders had repeatedly attempted to destabilise the campus through misbehaviour with faculty and threats to a professor.

In response, the SFI has countered these claims, alleging that the expulsions were a tactic to suppress their demands for justice in a molestation case they believe has been mishandled by the college administration. The situation remains tense, with increased police presence on the campus to prevent further disturbances and mandatory identity checks for all students entering the college.
The controversy began when a girl student accused a male student of spreading false rumours and harassing her. The SFI alleged that the administration was downplaying the severity of the incident, despite assurances from principal Bhangra that the matter was resolved off-campus and did not involve molestation.
