‘5 of 10 poll guarantees fulfilled’: CM Sukhu responds to PM Modi’s criticism on unkept promises

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has responded strongly to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent criticism of Congress-led governments, defending the Congress administration’s progress on its election guarantees.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), CM Sukhu emphasised that his government had already fulfilled five out of the 10 key promises made during the Assembly elections, highlighting the efforts underway to keep their commitments to the people.

During a recent rally, PM Modi targeted Congress-governed states, including Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka and Telangana, suggesting that Congress often made unattainable promises to secure votes.

Modi remarked, “The Congress is realising that it’s easy to make empty promises, but difficult to fulfil them. In states ruled by Congress, the financial and developmental situation is worsening.”

“In Himachal Pradesh, the Congress made significant promises, with key commitments laid out by Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in an election rally in Solan.

She pledged the creation of one lakh jobs in the first cabinet meeting, set high procurement prices for milk (Rs 100 per litre for buffalo milk and Rs 80 for cow milk) and promised a monthly allowance of Rs 1,500 to women aged 18-59,” said PM Modi.

While the BJP has consistently criticised the Congress government for failing to meet these pledges, Sukhu maintained that substantial progress had been achieved.

He pointed out that fulfilling five of the 10 promises within a short period demonstrated the state government’s commitment.
