MANDI: The All-India Football Federation has imposed a four-year ban on Deepak Sharma, the state secretary of the Himachal Pradesh Football Association, effective from the date of his suspension.
A few months ago, female football players had accused Deepak Sharma of molestation and exploitation, leading to his suspension. Following a thorough investigation into the matter, Vaibhav Gagger, the chairman of the AIFF Disciplinary Committee, found the allegations to be true.
In an official letter, it was stated that the investigation under Section 51 of the Federation’s constitution confirmed the allegations. Consequently, under Section 18, the disciplinary committee has banned Deepak Sharma from participating in any football-related activities for four years. This ban is retroactive to the date of his suspension. The Himachal Pradesh Football Welfare Association welcomed this decision and called for an investigation into the irregularities in the state football association during Deepak Sharma’s tenure as secretary.
