At least 4 lakh state government employees and pensioners have benefitted from the Himachal government’s release of DA even before the proposed JCC meeting on September 25.
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur had announced the DA on August 15. A notification in this regard was issued by the finance department on Wednesday.
The state government had also taken a loan of Rs 1000 crores for disbursement of the DA. This DA will be paid from July 1.
DA withheld due to pandemic
The state government had withheld DA of officers and employees during the pandemic.
However, the Centre had disbursed DA to central government employees to the tune of 11 per cent. But the state government has released only 6 per cent due to its poor financial condition.
DA for July, August
The installment of DA for July and August will be deposited in the GPF account. Dearness allowance for September will be given in cash along with the salary for October, while pensioners will get this amount along with their pension.
The payment of Dearness Allowance at the rate of 6 per cent will result in an additional burden of about Rs 450 crores annually on the exchequer.
State government boards, corporations and employees working in autonomous institutions will be paid DA by their respective managements.
