4 girls of Jogindernagar PM Shri school selected for state-level ‘Him Spardha’ competition
MANDI: Four talented students from PM Shri Rajkiya Adarsh Kanya Senior Secondary School, Jogindernagar — Apoorva, Kashish Thakur, Anamika Thakur and Aanvi Thakur — have been selected for the state-level “Him Spardha” competition.
The competition is being organised under the “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” campaign, which aims to highlight the diverse features and cultural heritage of India.
Apoorva and Kashish Thakur, both Class 11 students, presented a unique research project on Asia’s only trolley track, which runs from Shanan to Barot. Their research delved into the historical significance of this track, its construction and its impact on the region and tourism. Their work was presented at Mandi DIET, where it received high praise.

Research on Jogindernagar’s Herbal Garden and Botanical Museum
Similarly, Class 12th students Anamika Thakur and Aanvi Thakur conducted research on the famous Herbal Garden and Botanical Museum of Jogindernagar. They explored the historical background, plant diversity, and medicinal importance of the flora in the museum through their research. Their presentation was also recognized as the best at the district level in Mandi DIET.
The research presentations of all four students were deemed the best at the district-level competition. Mandi DIET has forwarded their research work to SCERT Solan for participation in the state-level competition, due to its relevance to history and regional significance.
Acknowledgment from school principal
The school’s principal, Sunil Thakur, congratulated the students and their guide teacher, Vinod Guleriya, on this achievement. He stated that the students’ hard work and guidance were key to their research being honoured at the district level. He also expressed hope that the students would continue to excel in the state-level competition and bring more recognition to the school.
Guide teacher Vinod Guleriya also praised the efforts of the students and mentioned that they are preparing thoroughly to refine their research for the upcoming state competition, aiming for further success. So far, the dedication and effort of these four students under the “Him Spardha” competition have brought them to this stage, and there is optimism that they will continue to showcase their talents at the state level.
