Three policemen of the Una Battalion were crushed to death by an unidentified vehicle in an accident at Asha Devi, 150 metres off Hoshiarpur Marg in Gagret, on Wednesday around 10.30 pm.
The three policemen were riding a bike when the accident occured. Two of the victims died on the spot, while one died on the way to the hospital.
The driver of the vehicle that hit the bike fled before local people could notice. The police personnel were in civilian dress when the accident took place.
The three were posted in Una Battalion two days back. They were identified through their identity cards as Manoj Kumar, Shubham and Vishal.
All three were in the 4th IRBN Battalion and residents of Hamirpur district. Two of them were from Boranj and one from Barsar.
Police checking numbers of suspicious vehicles
The police have started investigation by checking numbers of suspicious vehicles from the toll tax gate. At present 5-6 vehicles are on the radar of the police and are being traced.
DSP Manoj Jambal said that the police are gathering clues and a break through in this case is expected soon.
