With only 27 days left for the June 1 Assembly byelections in Himachal Pradesh, the ruling Congress is yet to announce its candidates for three of the six constituencies, causing anxiety among the contenders for the ticket in the party.
On the other hand, the Congress turncoats fielded by the opposition BJP in the six seats have done several rounds of meetings in the constituency. The bypolls have been necessitated following the disqualification of the six Congress MLAs from the Assembly after they violated the party’s whip on voting for the passage of budget. The Assembly bypolls are scheduled in Dharamshala, Barsar, Lahaul-Spiti, Gagret, Sujanpur and Kutlehar. The Congress is yet to declare its candidates in Dharamshala, Barsar and Lahaul-Spiti.
