Cyber fraudsters target innocent people in Himachal
93 accused arrested

At least 243 in Himachal have fallen victim to online fraudsters within the past three years. Operating from different cities, approximately Rs 2.43 crores have been embezzled from undoubting people in the state.
Sirmaur district has the maximum number of people who have been taken for a ride by online tricksters.
Cyber police action
Between July 1, 2018, to 30 June 2021, at least 38 people have fallen victim. Out of the 243 cases, 93 have been solved with the police nabbing the culprits.
An appeal for legal action has been filed for 79 of these cases. The cyber police have been finding it extremely difficult to nab these fraudsters and hence they have been constantly appealing to the public to be wary of such fraudsters.
Modus Operandi of these fraudsters
These fraudsters operate from different cities in India. They often pose as bank officers and ask customers for their ATM pin.
They also indulge in sending text messages with a link on which the customer is supposed to click and give all personal details.
District wise registered cases
Police registered 15 cases of cybercrime in Baddi district, 8 in Bilaspur, 6 in Chamba, 14 in Hamirpur, 22 in Kangra, 2 in Kinnaur, 28 in Kullu, 27 in Mandi, 31 in Shimla, 38 in Sirmaur, 18 in Solan, 14 in Una, one in the state intelligence police station and 19 in the cyber police station.
