200 athletes compete in regional sports event organised by Ekal Abhiyan in Pandoh

MANDI: Over 200 children from 10 areas within the Mandi region displayed their athletic talents in regional sports competitions organised by Ekal Abhiyan, held at the Third Battalion grounds in Pandoh.
Drang BJP secretary Sher Singh inaugurated the event, commending the educational outreach of Ekal Abhiyan schools. He noted that these schools played a vital role not only in children’s all-around development but also in fostering awareness of cultural values and religious heritage.
As part of his support, Sher Singh contributed Rs 5,100 towards the initiative and extended his congratulations to the organisers.
Ekal Abhiyan’s outreach across Himachal
Organiser Ram explained that Mandi, part of the North Himachal division under Ekal Abhiyan, includes 10 regions, each covering 30 villages. Ekal schools operate after regular school hours, offering evening classes that deliver a comprehensive curriculum encompassing primary education, health awareness, village development, social education, and moral values.
Regional teacher Bindra Thakur shared that around 200 children competed in various events, including 100m, 200m, 400m and 600m races, wrestling, high jump, long jump and kabaddi. Prominent community members such as social worker Mohan Singh, regional committee chair for moral education Manohar Lal, vice-president Desh Raj and other notable guests attended the event, enhancing the community’s collective pride and support for young talent.
