Two labourers lost their lives after being struck by a landslide late at night in Gahar village under Gulhadi panchayat of Kasauli Assembly constituency in Himachal Pradesh’s Solan district.
According to information, the incident occurred during ongoing flat construction activities in the village, the work having been undertaken by a private company. At around 12.30 am, a major volume of stones and debris cascaded down from the hill, hitting the temporary shed where the workers were living. As a result, the labourers were buried beneath the rubble.
Upon receiving the information, local law enforcement officials promptly arrived at the scene and commenced rescue efforts. Despite their best efforts, both labourers could not be saved and succumbed to the incident. Their bodies were subsequently extricated from the debris and transported to nearby MMU Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Reports indicate that the workers had erected the temporary shed as their living quarters. The landslide occurred late at night, resulting in the demise of the two labourers who were trapped under the debris, a police official said. Investigations by the police into the incident were currently ongoing, he added.
