Following the death of a 63-year-old man due to Covid, 17 new cases of the Coronavirus have been reported from Chamba district.
The victim was a resident of Sarol panchayat adjoining the district headquarters who was admitted to the Covid hospital in Chamba on August 17.
He also had a serious lung ailment and suffered a heart attack on Tuesday night. He died at the DCH, Chamba. The death toll from Covid in the district has now increased to 158.
Active cases rise to 143
With the addition of 17 new cases on Wednesday, the number of active cases has now increased to 143.
The infected belong to Surada, Dalhousie, Bathri, Karian and Banjali areas and have been isolated through home quarantine by the health department.
