A shocking case of molestation involving 11 girl students from a government school under the jurisdiction of Chopal police station in Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh has come to light.
The accused, who runs a shop adjacent to the school, allegedly exploited his proximity to harass the students. Following a formal complaint, the police have registered a case against the accused under the stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Investigations have been initiated promptly to ensure justice for the victims.
Upon learning of the incident, the school convened an urgent meeting of its Sexual Harassment Prevention Committee. During the meeting, the distressing experiences of the 11 affected students were thoroughly discussed. Subsequently, a formal complaint was lodged with the Chopal police station.
Given the gravity of the situation, the police have taken swift action by registering the case under the POCSO Act. The Station House Officer of Chopal has been tasked with leading the investigation. Chopal Deputy Superintendent of Police Sushant Sharma confirmed the registration of the case and assured the public that the accused would be apprehended soon.
