SOLAN: To safeguard public health during the festive season, the Food and Safety Department in Solan has been testing the samples of sweets from local shops within the Solan Municipal Corporation area.
A total of 90 samples have been collected, with reports for 40 already processed. Of these, 10 samples have failed to meet the required safety standards, prompting the Food Safety Department to take action.
The department has initiated appropriate measures against the sweets that did not meet the specified standards, leading to the disposal of more than one and a half quintals of sweets.
Atul Kaistha, the Food Safety Officer of Municipal Corporation, highlighted the ongoing efforts during the festive season. “Spoiled sweets, identified through the examination process, are being discarded. Out of the 90 collected samples, reports for 40 have been received, and action is being taken against the 10 non-compliant samples in accordance with regulations,” he said.
Kaistha emphasised the department’s vigilance, stating that efforts were underway to obtain reports for all the samples before Diwali.
